Hanging out with friends!

True friends are really hard to find and I am very lucky to have friends just like them.

Last week my friend invited us for dinner for her post-birthday celebration at a Buffet Restaurant here at our place. We had fun chatting and been laughing all night long.

This guys were my close friends since high school, we grew up together as friends. Been together through thick and thin. And now we are all professionals we are still close to each other.

The girl in the picture is Lovely, she is a Information Technologist; the guy in red is Reynaldo, an elementary teacher; Arvin the guy in checkered polo is a Social Worker.

Remembrance from my NLE!

Found this on my clinical uniform! This two sweets was my source of sugar for taking the board last December. And I guess it helped me recall some topics I've read and helped me think well. This will surely serve as my remembrance in taking the local boards.

I Passed The PNLE!

Last December 16 and 17 mark the make or break moment of my life. It was the judgment day for us who graduated of Bachelor of Science in Nursing here in the Philippines.

Philippine Nursing Licensure Examination is the biannual exam conducted by the Professional Regulation Commission of the Philippines wherein almost 5 consecutive years there were about 30% of the takers pass. And I tell you it's not just an ordinary examination. It is an examination nightmare.

I reviewed for almost 6 months. I had my review at Equipp Review Center located in the vicinity of our city (in case you didn't know I live in Tacloban City in the province of Leyte). Almost all of my review mates were my batchmates. We reviewed concepts related to nursing and it's practice. Unlike the NCLEX of US, PNLE is a test and paper exam divided into 5 major parts and conducted for 2 days. For that 5 parts  different areas of nursing are being tested to the examinee such as, Fundamentals in Nursing, Obstetrics, Pediatrics, Medical Surgical Nursing, Community Health Nursing, Nursing Research and among others.

Preparing for the exam is not just a piece of cake but rather a climb up a mountain. You need to review almost all areas of nursing. Things a nursing student studied from first year up to fourth year. It's like recalling of seven parts of Harry Potter books from cover to cover. And what is difficult is that you don't have any idea what questions will be asked.

We started our review sessions in Equipp on July 2012. We had lectures, post tests and a lot of post tests. It was really brain draining. It was exhausting. I wake up at 6 or 7 am to prepare and I go home around 5pm or even as late as 8pm, and it does not stop there, you need to review all that has been discussed (well, it's up to you, but it's my cup of tea). And I sleep VERY LATE, literally! Around 2am or 3am. Very tiring, indeed!!

On the night before our board exam I barely fall asleep. I think I haven't sleep at all. Really. It's as if my brain  tells me something bad might happen and I must be awake the whole night. My testing center was not far from our place but my best friend who has a car fetch me at our house around 5am and we also  fetch our other close friend, too.

We arrived at our testing center at exactly 5:30am. We were instructed to report to our designated rooms at exactly 6am (even though the test will begin at 7am - really strict..). We had 3 exams for that day and 2 on the other day. And the exam was really, really, really very difficult. I even told my parents that I will fail. I was very nervous and scared what will be the result. I was praying so hard not to fail. And if I fail I have so many plans in mind. (haha!)

The result came after 30 PRC working days. And my hardwork, perseverance, sleepless nights, pimples, no gimmiks, sacrifices paid off. Last January 30, 2012, PRC posted on their website the succesful takers of NLE and with the help of God, I passed the PNLE. I passed.Yes, I passed! =)

Until today everything seems surreal, especially an average student like me who wasn't expecting for this gift and recognition.

For all nursing graduates who will take the upcoming PNLE this June and to those aspiring nurses, my only advice is that work hard, study wisely, persevere and don't forget to pray. And if you fail, don't ever give up. Remember PNLE is not a test of knowledge but a test to ensure you are ready to be a nurse. I think what made me pass is my undying faith to God and my perseverance and hardwork not during the review sessions but rather during my college days. You must have that "stored knowledge" in you and the "test taking strategy" to pass any exam. I know I'm not in the position to tell some advice about passing the exam but it's just what I have observe and what I think is right. And at the end of the day, after all your sacrifices don't forget to pray.

To all who prayed and followed my NLE journey - THANK YOU!

MOVIE REVIEW: The Hobbit, An Unexpected Journey

Set in the world of magic and fantasy The Hobbit is a feast to the eye.

I never expected that this movie would be amazing. With strong performances from the cast and well written plot this movie will surely win your hearts.

From being witty to action-packed of adventure of the characters with eagles, wizards, elves and orcs the memory of Lord of The Rings will surely be remembered with this movie.

Based on the novel by J. R. R. Tolkien's fantasy novel of the same name, the story starts when Bilbo Baggin's met Gandalf and was introduced to a group of dwarves visiting his home for a special meeting and that's when the adventure sets in. With some casts from the highly acclaimed Lord Of the Rings Trilogy and directed by acclaimed director Peter Jackson you will never be disappointed by this really unexpected journey.

What I like about this movie is that the scenes are very nice to see especially the special effects and the musical score - really amazing! Even though the movie is quite long ( 3hours and 30 mins. If i am not mistaken) you will never get bored.

My rating: 4/5 stars

The PNLE Experience

So last December 16 and 17, 2012 I took the PNLE or what we call the Philippine Nursing Licensure Examination. After months of months of sleepless nights and reviewing diseases, nursing principles, nursing management, nursing procedure and tons of interventions, the long wait is finally over.

I should say the exam was quite tricky, in some questions you will end up choosing two (answers you feel that are correct) correct answers - and that makes it hard. Really, it was hard. My brain was as if squeezed hard. But I am hoping for the best. I still pray I can grab that license and be a Registered Nurse.

Nursing Licensure Exam here in the Philippines is far different from America's NCLEX where you get to answer only one set of exam (if i am not mistaken), in the PNLE you get to answer 5 sets of exam all with a hundred items namely, Nursing Practice 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5. The exam is conducted for two days Nursing practice 1, 2, 3 in the first day and the rest on the following day. NP 1 is all about Fundamentals of Nursing wherein different nursing procedures, nursing principles, nursing management or whatever topics or things that is related to the nursing profession here in our country. NP 2 is all about Community Health Nursing mixed with Obstetric Nursing and Pediatric Nursing and issues regarding health in our country. NP 3 - 4 are all about diseases, yes, this is the part wherein aspiring doctors shine (hehe), this is quite difficult because you get to encounter tons of diseases, interventions and medications, this is the part wherein the NCLEX aura takes place.

So my experiance n the PNLE was quite tragic and at the same time funny. I mean tragic because as a left handed I was having a hard time answering the exam cause the chair was for right handed people, what a discriminatin for us left-handed! My back was aching cause and I was changing my position from time to time. I was praying that I may answer the test despite of my struggle.

Tragedy part 2. Yes. The sequel. Come NP 4 where I was answering as serious and focused as possible where I lost the track of time (we only get to answer the set of exam for only 2 hours) and I have not yet shaded my answer to the answer sheet... Yeah, oh my! With my panic, my hands was shaking and perspiring, I ciuld hardly shade the boxes, I was shouting in my head at the same time praying, luckily I finished the exam on time but my only concern is that if the boxes was shaded correctly. *sigh* I entrusted it to the Lord already. Whatever may happen and whatever result come out thy will be done.

Up to now, I'm still nervous of what will be the result. I just pray and pray and continue to pray so that I may pass the exam.

The result will be out next year, maybe mid February and I hope by that time I may see my name on the list of successful passes.

Hoping for your prayers and thoughts for the success of my board exam.

To all who prayed for me, thank you so much. :)

The Stylish Water-Resistant HD Smartphone

Sony have released again another line up to their worldwide successfull Xperia Smartphones, the Xperia acro S.

What's great with this smartphone is that it is water-resistant and dust-resistant. Where in the world can you get a phone that is splash, scratch and dust resistant? This phone has the highest level of protection when it comes to splash of water and scratch. Because of this feature you can use this phone anywhere you want, you can use it while having a shower, taking shots while in the beach and using it while raining. Cool right?

And because it's Sony, expect the high quality photo with the amazing 12megapixel camera. Great for taking photos in the beach with your friends.

It has also HD video recording with 1080p, so you can capture videos in high quality anywhere even if its raining.

Xperia acro S also has 1.5GHz dual core processor for faster response.

What I love about this phone is that because it's splash-free I can use it even though it's raining and whenever I'm at the beach with my friends or goofing around at the pool with my family.

So if you're clumsy and loves water like me then Sony Xperia Acro S is right for you, The Stylish water-resistant HD smartphone.
